23 Jul “Encouraging Acts of Kindness” – Hebrews 10:24
Today, I want to share a deeply personal experience that I feel has begun to help shape the way I see life.
Last week, I received a call to do an estimate for a local non-profit organization called C.E.T.A. Little did I know that this visit would become a turning point in my life. As I walked through the premises with Jim, a gentle and hardworking man, memories of my late grandfather, Norbie, flooded my mind. – a loving husband, father figure, grandfather, mentor, and friend. Jim’s kind demeanor reminded me so much of him just after only a few minutes and not really knowing much about him personally.
The walk-through smelled like Busha’s kitchen after Sunday mass, I felt like a kid again. I witnessed the members of C.E.T.A. diligently preparing for a bake sale to support their cause. Their commitment and dedication to helping others touched my heart in a way I can’t fully express. It was more than just a business visit; it felt like a soul-stirring experience that connected me to something greater than myself.
In that moment, a feeling came over me to show my appreciation to Jim and the incredible people at C.E.T.A. for their selfless efforts. Inspired by the memory of my beloved grandparents and the spirit of giving that permeated through C.E.T.A., I made a decision from the heart. During our meeting, I surprised Jim with an offer he didn’t expect – I offered our pressure washing services to C.E.T.A. at absolutely no cost.
The joy and gratitude in Jim’s eyes when he heard my offer were indescribable. It was then that I realized the true power of giving back to the community. That single act of kindness gave birth to an idea that has now become my mission – the Community Appreciation Program. This initiative is all about giving back to the organizations that contribute so much to our community’s welfare.
It is for this reason I have created our own “Community Appreciation Program”. This program will be a permanent aspect of our business. We are now actively seek out community organizations, non-profits, and local buildings that make a positive impact on the lives of others. From schools and community centers to shelters and support groups, we offer our washing services for one entity each month as a token of gratitude for their selfless contributions.
The sense of fulfillment and purpose that comes from helping those who dedicate themselves to serving others is beyond words. Through our Community Appreciation Program, we’re not just cleaning surfaces; we’re building stronger connections within our community. Each time we lend a helping hand to these remarkable organizations, we are fostering a spirit of togetherness and support that defines our community.
My journey as a business owner has taken an unexpected and heartwarming turn. The encounter with Jim and the people at C.E.T.A. ignited a passion in me to give back to the community that has supported my business and to recognize the unsung heroes who work tirelessly for the betterment of others. It is my hope that The Community Appreciation Program becomes an integral part of our business, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact and embrace the true essence in community appreciation. Together, we can create a ripple effect of kindness and compassion that will strengthen our community and touch the lives of many.
